How to buy Daytona boots from Germany

Frey Daytona Security Evo Sport motorcycle racing boots

(NOTE: I bought these boots in 2002. some of the info may be out of date)

I ordered some Daytona Security Evo Sports boots from Germany.

The dealer I used was Biker Land -- http://www.biker-land.de/

To see the boots, go to the Biker Land Online Shop and look in "Motorradstiefel", then sub-category "Racing-Stiefel". The ones I got are called "Evo Basic" in their catalog. They were 340 euros which is currently about US $340, but was only about $300 a couple months ago when I ordered.

Then I had to pay my bank $25 to do an international wire transfer. None of the German internet shops seem to be able to take US credit cards, so you have to do a wire transfer.

Fortunately, they have an english-speaking person on staff, so you can send english email and ask questions and stuff. The dot-com "now now now" mentality does not seem to have pervaded German biker shops, so you can expect the transaction to take a couple of days and a couple of emails.

Then they mail them to you. That's another 25 euros for shipping, and it takes almost 3 weeks. When the package arrives you have to pay US Customs -- that was another $55. I ordered two pairs of boots (I got some RoadStar GTX boots for street riding) but the shipping was still only 25 euros.

If you don't want to deal with all the importing hassle, you can go look at www.helimot.com -- they are the exclusive US importer. I think when you compare the price, you'll see why I imported them myself. Of course, the dollar keeps getting worse and worse compared to the Euro, so at some point, you might as well go with Helimot.
